Candidates for my upcoming photography book, featuring fire (Hawaiian lava), ice (Icelandic glaciers and icebergs), rare species (penguins, dolphins and manta rays), the night sky cosmos and other places around the world.

Lava by Boat
Photographed from a boat within 15 feet (3 metres) of liquid lava pouring into the ocean. Because of the temperature difference between the lava (molten lava is 2000 degrees fahrenheit) and the ocean, the liquid rock explodes into black sand the instant it contacts water.
Lava by Air
Hello & Welcome! Here are the latest photos of the lava meeting the ocean, as photographed while hanging half way out a doorless helicopter, as close as 15 feet from the active lava. (Look for the photo with my boot in it. I LOVE my life!)
